Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,
Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.
All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on

I was reading an article on a certain knife, and they performed several tests concerning the strength of the knife, and one of them was how much pressure or weight the locking mechanism could take before the it closed without fingering the proper release.
The rating for this was "80 bar"
Now i've been doing some research and i found out that the bar is the unit of measure for barometers. What i'd like to know is how i would convert that figure into something that makes more sense to me like pounds or kg per inch/cm, or if it would even be possible to convert it to regular Kg or lbs without the area. Thanks in advance for any help.

pressure is a measure of force that is applied to an area.
You can make conversions between various pressure units here:
