Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,
Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.
All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on

I think that the storage names are wrong in the Computer Storage Converter. Kilobytes = Kibybyte Mega = Mebi Tera = Tebi etc, etc , etc... I thought for a minute that I was seeing things or that there were a new terminology. It's not a big thing but it can confuse some people.

It is a new terminology which is an IEC international standard of 1998.
It suggests using special prefixes for binary multiplies used in data processing and transmission, i.e. kibi (1024) instead of kilo (1000) and so on.

C'mon guys, how many times have you actually seen a Mebibyte used in daily transactions or listings? I for one have never seen it and I've worked for very large, U.S. based ISP's and backbone providers (UUNET). It may have been put out there in '98 but I don't see the terminology as being widely known or used.
I'm ok with it, but honestly feel that it needs to be adopted by more governing boards first before it is made official here.

You are right. Actually we've changed prefixed in computer storage from 'kilo' to 'kibi' after three different people complained about that. I guess we'll keep getting complains in any case.
So I think we'd better stick with the standard, generally I admit it is a good idea to distiguish the prefixes for 1000 and 1024.
By the way I work for a large ISP in Russia and never had actually known anything about those 'kibi' prefixes until I've been told about them in this forum.
