Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,
Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.
All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on

The on-line converter includes "Imperial Chinese" weight conversions. "Jin" (Mandarin - Mainland China) or "Kan" (Cantonese - Hong Kong) are represented by the same written Chinese character but that is where the similarities end.
The Jin currently supported by this site is equivalent to 0.5kg. There are 10 Liang per Jin.
In Hong Kong, a Kan (officially known as Catty in English) is equivalent to 0.60478982kg. Furthermore there are 16 Liang (leung) per Kan.
Is there any chance of getting a Hong Kong section added to the web converter?
If we license your downloadable product, does it support the Hong Kong Kan?
Here are the legal definitions (taken from the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department web site):
1 picul (tam) = 100 catties
1 catty (kan) = 0.60478982 kilogram
1 tael (leung) = 1/16 catty
1 mace (tsin) = 1/160 catty
1 candareen (fan) = 1/1600 catty
1 tael troy = 37.429 grams
1 mace troy = 1/10 tael troy
1 candareen troy = 1/10 mace troy
