The formula for the volume of a cylinder is: PI * radius squared * length. I’m assuming 5/8" is the inside diameter. The volume in gallons (US) is approximately 11.16. The calculations are correct but it’s an approximation as the inside diameter of the pipe isn’t perfect and will have slight deformations along it’s length.
How I got there:
I converted to like units, using inches instead of feet, converted the diameter of 5/8 of an inch (fraction) to it’s decimal equivalent in inches, divided this diameter by 2 to get the radius and ran the formula noted above.
5 / 8 = 0.625" / 2 = 0.3125"
700 feet * 12 = 8400"
Running the formula using inches to obtain in^3:
PI * 0.3125^2 * 8400
3.1415927 * 0.097656 * 8400 = 2,577.08772 in^3
As there are 231 in^3 in a gallon (US), divide 2,577.08772 by 231 to get gallons. The precision is much more than is needed, so 11.16 gallons (US).
