Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.
All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on

You are stranded on an island and a large plastic bin arrives with an oddly shaped object inside warpped in cellophane. You cannot tell visually what the object is made of, but you are given a list of 25 possible materials ranging from feathers to gold. You are told the ojbect can be considered solidly packed and waterproof, but may not be set on fire. You have one hour alone with the object to perform experiments on it. Explain how you would set up an experiment to as accurately as possible determine the nature of the object:?

i would like information about surface tension, how to determine surface tension of water? and how to set up the experiment surface tension anybdy have idea about it so please let me know.
