Figure Acreage from a plot map

I have an irregular lot size and I'm trying to figure out Square ft or acreage. front is 37.76 Ft, North side 165.18 Ft south side 155 Ft, the back is 120.72 Ft. On the plot map there is a triangle in the front north corner of the lot. it reads 16 deg 05' 18", L=36.50. any idea how to figure it??

A triangle is rigid and completely defined by its three sides. Figures of four or more sides are not rigid, and several, with different angles, can have the same lengths on all sides.

In a plot usually each side is specified by both a length and a bearing angle as your 36.50' side is above. With a complete list of sides as vectors (length and bearing angle), the area can be calculated. The bearing angle may be given as compass (0 -360 degrees) or azimuthal (0-90 degrees) with a N or S before it and E or W after it.

I don't quite understand the "triangle". Is the lot really five sided? Make a table of the lengths and bearing angles in "traverse" order. Start at any corner and go around in order either clockwise or counterclockwise - doesn't really matter but define which.

If you can accurately plot the distances and angles you can estimate acreage by breaking the irregularly shaped polygon down into right triangles and then use simple geometry to find the area of each right triangle.
