Square yards is a measure of area. Cubic yards is a measure of volume.
You cannot convert from one to the other.
If you take 1 cubic yard and break it up into 1 foot x 1 foot x 1 foot cubes, which are cubic feet, and lay out each cubic foot on the ground, there would be 27 cubic feet. You could make a rectangle of 3 feet by 9 feet for instance.
