40 gallons in a 4" PVC pipe

How many linear feet of 4" PVC pipe will it take to hold 35 gallons of water.

I am setting up a french drain for my Washer and considering a linear installation as opposed to a barrel.

Is 4" the INSIDE diameter?

1 gallon = 231 in³ so 35 gal = 8085 in³

The volume of a cylinder is V = (pi/4)*d*d*h
solving for h, and plugging in above volume, h = 644" = 54 ft (approx).
