Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

HELLO GUYS I HAVE A LAKE THAT IS 1500 LINEAR FEET AROUND IT AND I NEED TO FIND OUT HOW MANY SQUARE FEET THAT IS SO I CAN CHANGE THAT TO ACER FEET I AM HOPING IT IS 3 ACER OF SUFFICE AREA PLEASE HELP ME :shock: :?

So, 1500 feet is the perimeter of the lake. But we need to know the shape to determine the area. Duifferent shapes would give different areas for the same perimeter.
1) Circular c= pi * d, so d = c/pi, approximately 477'
then A = (pi/4) *d^2 = 179 049 dq. ft
2) But if it is square, it is P/4 on a side, 375'
The area would only be 140 625 sq. ft.
3) But if it is an absurdly long skinny rectangle
749' by 1', it still has a 1500' perimeter, but the area is only 749 sq. ft.
For a given perimeter, a perfect circle has the largest possible area. To convert area to acres, 1 acre = 43 560 sq. ft., so your lake, MIGHT be as large as 4.1 acres (case 1)
Acre-feet is a measure of volume, it is the surface area in acres, multipled by the depth in feet (assuming the lake is the same depth everywhere, the computation is very complex if it isn't)
