More information is needed for a viable answer but
IF this 540 gallons is in a flat bottom tank, the bottom is level and the walls are vertical (a lot of if's), you need to know the depth of the water in the tank.
There are 7.4805 gallons in a cubic foot (ft^3), so 540 gallons / 7.4805 = 72.188 cubic feet. Square feet can be determined by dividing cubic feet by the depth, so if the depth is 3 feet:
72.188 ft^3 / 3' = 24.06 square feet
