Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,
Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.
All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on

It is good I now have some hold on the subject, but the above links give different results so it does not make things clearer for me.

Convert 26 mesh (net) in to microns

Mesh size is the number of openings per linear inch. To convert to microns you also need to know the wire thickness of the mesh (in microns).
The formula would be:
Mesh opening in Microns = (254/mesh size) - (mesh size x wire diameter in microns)

I created a formula that has pretty good accuracy for the conversion of mesh to microns and vice-versa.
The formula is as follows, and it has reasonable accuracy from 45 to 400 mesh.
microns = 15000/mesh and this can also be written as mesh = 15000/microns.
You can find my recent article on this subject in the December 2008 issue of Powder and Bulk Engineer (the article is available online for free).
