You give the outside dimensions of the box, not how much plywood it would take to do the job.
Example: A cube/box 1 foot x 1 foot x 1 foot x 1 foot x 1 foot x 1 foot
If we were to use 1 inch thick plywood to cover such a box then we would need TWO pieces that are 1 foot x 1 foot for the END pieces and would need TWO pieces that are 1 foot x 1 foot 2 inches for the top, bottom and TWO pieces that are 1 foot 2 inches x 1 foot 2 inches for the sides. The four pieces require the extra 1 inch to OVERLAP the end pieces so we can attach them together with nails/screws etc.
2 end pieces = 12x12=144x2=288
top & bottom = 12x14=168x2=336
sides =14x14=196x2=392
=1016 sq in / 144 = 7.0556 sq ft need to cover a box that has outer dimensions of 6 square feet.
If ALL six pieces of plywood were 1 foot square, how would you connect them together? :)
And 2.2m x 4.9m x 5.5m is about 7 1/4' x 16' x 18' so how are you splicing the plywood together? A person has to buy HOW MANY sheets of plywood to do the job? :) :)
A sheet of plywood is approximately 2.9 sq meters ...
