Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. degrees into inches

the central angle of a circle is 157.5 degrees. how would you find the mesurement of the arc in inches. the radius is 8ft

I would simplify the radius first, so: radius of 8 ft * 12 in/ft = radius of 96 inches

Using degrees:

s = (π/180) * Θ * r
where:
s = arc length
π = PI = 3.14159265
Θ = central angle (in degrees)
r = radius

calculating the formula to completion:
s = (π/180) * Θ * r,
s = 0.01745329 * 157.5º * 96,
s = 263.89 inches
