Dear convert-me.com forum visitors,

Our forum has been available for many years. In September 2014 we decided to switch it to read-only mode. Month after month we saw less posts with questions and answers from real people and more spam posts. We were spending more and more resources cleaning the spam until there were less them 1 legitimate message per 100 spam posts. Then we decided it's time to stop.

All the posts in the forum will be available and searchable. We understand there are a lot of useful information and we aren't going to remove anything. As for the new questions, you can always ask them on convert-me.com FaceBook page

Job Site Language/Measurement Conversions

My son recently had his crew become larger when his company added three new guys; all with great masonry, construction and architectural experience. However they dont speak the language!

I was wondering whether you guys would know of product (handheld calculator?) that he could use in order to get measurement info across to the them accurately?

If your son has access to a palm pilot I would recommend a program called "Converter v2.2" availalble at http://www.mattmarsh.net/computing/palmpilot.shtml. This is a "Freeware" program that I use every day. I highly recommend it.

Another option, and perhaps a better one for the construction industry, would be one of the construction calculators put out by Calculated, Inc. They are available at most home improvement stores, like Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Etc.

A couple of examples are the ProjectCalc Plus (http://calculated.com/products/8525.html), and the Construction Master Pro (http://calculated.com/products/4060.html?construction)
