If receipe is printed from software, the quantity and the unit are stored in separate fields. That works fine for 2 cups, 2 tablespoons, but what happens when you use whole things like eggs, onions, lemons. My guess is they have to make up a unit, and that nos. is an abbreviation for "numbers." It would be better to leave the units blank, but that may cause a software error.
Do you have other recipes from the same source? I would check recipes that call for some number of whole eggs or onions, to see if they use the same expression.
